Petal Palette Bundle – When In Doubt Just Add Glitter

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Stampin' Up! Petal Palette Stamp Set and Petals & More Thinlits Dies - Bedazzled with Silver

Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Petal Palette Bundle – When In Doubt Add Glitter

Hello everyone. Today I’ve got for you another card from the bedazzled series. You can see previous cards here and here.

I’m not a girly girl, I’m not crazy about pink or bling or glitter and all that jazz, but I came up with this idea accidentally (you can read about it here) and completely fell in love.

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Stampin' Up! Petal Palette Stamp Set and Petals & More Thinlits Dies - Bedazzled with Silver

Card dimensions:

  • Smoky Slate cardstock: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm)
  • Bermuda Bay cardstock: 3-15/16″ x 5-9/16″
  • Shimmery White cardstock: 3-7/8″ x 5-″
  • a piece of White Vellum  and Silver Glimmer Paper for die cutting
  • Smoky Slate banner piece: 2-1/2″ x 11/16″
  • Bermuda Bay banner piece: 2-1/4″ x 1″

First, I created my watercolour background. I stamped roses from Petal Palette Stamp Set in Basic Black Archival ink, which is perfect to work with watercolours. I’ve used Bermuda Bay Ink Pad to colour in all my flowers. For leaves, I’ve used Old Olive with a hint of Lemon Lime Twist Ink Pad. Next, I sponged the whole panel using Smoky Slate Ink Pad and Stamping Sponge.

My favourite technique with a sponged background is to flick water all over it and let ink to react with water to create a distressed look.

I’ve used Embossing Buddy, antistatic pouch, to remove the static or any oil from the panel, flicked some more water on the background, sprinkled with Silver Emboss Powder and heat set it. Added more sprinkles/embossing until happy.

I reheat my embossing on the panel, cover it with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, tap off the excess and heat set it again. Don’t you just love these ‘dazzling’ speckles?!

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Stampin' Up! Petal Palette Stamp Set and Petals & More Thinlits Dies - Bedazzled with Silver

I adhered my background panel to Bermuda Bay mat and next to Smoky Slate card base. Now to jazz it up a little.

I’ve used Petals & More Thinlits Dies to die cut few elements for my card. I die cut two branches: one from vellum and one from Silver Glimmer Paper. I also die cut a filigree banner from Silver Glimmer Paper.

This square frame was actually a leftover from a different project (lying around) and it was just perfect fit.

I played a bit with a placing of all my elements, and once I was happy I adhered them to the card.

I am really chuffed how this card turned out. Such a shame it’s so hard to photograph and to show all the sparkle in the photo. But below you can see a ‘boomerang’ from my Instagram from when I created the background piece. The shimmer is just mesmerising!!

Emboss Resist Watercolour Background With Beautiful Peacock Stamp Set

Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Emboss Resist Watercolour Background With Beautiful Peacock Stamp Set

Hello everyone and thank you for visiting my little stampin’ cave.

Today, I’m playing along with Global Design Project and their #GDP126 Sketch Challenge. And I’ve got for you really simple, yet beautiful card, using FREE Sale-a-bration stamp set: Beautiful Peacock. I don’t know exactly why, but I really love this set, even though it’s completely not in my style.

But except the peacock image, its got all those beautiful, swirly stamps, which supposed to be its tail. And I couldn’t resist using one of these for creating a beautiful, emboss resist watercolour background for my card.

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Emboss Resist Watercolour background using Beautiful Peacock Stamp Set

Dimensions:

  • Lemon Lime Twist cardstock: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm)
  • Tranquil Tide cardstock: 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
  • Shimmery White cardstock: 3-3/4″ x 5″
  • Whisper White cardstock for die cutting
  • Copper Trim: around 2-1/2″

First, I took Shimmery White panel and dust it with embossing buddy. Next, using Versamark, I stamped peacock’s tail all over the panel. sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set it using a heat tool.

I pulled out three inkpads I wanted to use: Lemon Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay and Tranquil Tide. To prepare my colour palettes I squeezed each inkpad in the middle lightly to transfer ink from foam to the lid and opened the inkpads.

I wet the entire Shimmery White panel, using aqua painter, and next, I started adding my colours: Lemon Lime Twist at the top, Bermuda Bay in the middle and Tranquil Tide on the bottom. I let the colours to bleed into each other.

I love to watch how embossed images resist the ink – it’s like magic

Remember, watercolours dry lighter, so once my piece was dry, I added more water and more colour, and repeat the process until I was happy.

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Emboss Resist Watercolour background using Beautiful Peacock Stamp Set

The sentiment I chose comes from Petal Palette  Stamp Set. I stamped in on a piece of Whisper White cardstock with Versamark and heat embossed it in copper. Next, I die-cut it using the second smallest square die from Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.

When assembling the card, I decided to turn my panel upside down – it looked so much better with Tranquil Tide on top.

Instead of a ribbon or twine from the sketch, I swap it for a Copper Trim. I cut briefly 2-1/2 piece and I pulled it apart to create this cool mat for my sentiment. I add it to the card with dimensionals.

As always, I really want to encourage you to visit the Global Design Project challenge blog to see other beautiful projects from all around the world. Just click on their logo below to visit the website

Petal Palette Split Background 1 For 2

Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Petal Palette Split Background 1 For 2 for Kylie Bertucci’s International Project Highlights

Thanks for coming to my blog today! We are being highlighted internationally by Kylie Bertucci and you are able to VOTE  for my project. The top ten winners will get to be part of an international blog hop so please vote for my project. My project is under number 7!  You can do it here or use a button at the end of my post.

Our theme for this highlight is, again, ‘Favourite Sale-a-bration Or Occasions Catalogue Products’ – because they are so amazing!! Last time I’ve used my ever favourite medium: Brusho Crystal Colour – you can check that post HERE.

This time, however, I decided to use a stamp set I seem to be using a lot lately, called Petal Palette. And this is also my second project in ‘Bedazzled‘ series, as I have a thing (or two lol) for a glitter lately too haha

Dimensions for both cards:

  • card base: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm) – Whisper White Thick & Very Vanilla cardstock
  • Shimmery White cardstock: 4-1/4″ x 5-3/4″ (10.8 cm x 14.6 cm)
  • Soft Sky cardstock: 3-2/8″ x 4-1/8″ (8.26 cm x 10.5 cm)
  • Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper: narrow, long strip – 4-1/2″ x 1/2″ (11.4 cm x 1.3 cm) approx

First I created the background. I didn’t have a plan for my cards yet, I just played – but this is how many of projects start.

I stamped the cluster of roses from Petal Palettes Stamp Set all over the piece of Shimmery White cardstock using Basic Black Archival ink pad. Next, I watercoloured them. I’ve used my ink pads as palettes: Powder Pink with Blushing Bride for roses and Pear Pizzazz with Old Olive for leaves.

When my piece dried, I decided I want to add some colour to the background. I’ve used a sponge dauber to add Versamark ink to my flowers and let it dry. Next, I sponged Soft Sky ink over my piece. Versamark helped my roses not to be stained with blue ink, but it also allowed the blueish hue to make it’s ‘mark’ (hope you know what I mean).

Once happy with the background, I flicked some water droplets on and picked them up with a paper towel. I truly love subtle texture that those droplets create.

Now the ‘bedazzled’ part: I flicked some more water on my background, sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heat set it. Next, I re-heat it once again, added Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter and heat set it again so the glitter stays put. And I cut my piece diagonally to create two cards.

Because of the bold design, I decided to keep the rest of my cards clean & simple.

For first card, I decided to mount my diagonal piece at the very bottom of the card. But first, I stamped the sentiment, with help of Stamp-a-ma-jig, in Basic Black Archival ink.

I stamped it diagonally, just above where the diagonal piece will go and I  added a strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper just below my sentiment. Next, using Foam Adhesive Strips I adhered my background to the card base

For the second card’s card base I’ve used Very Vanilla thick cardstock and I tweaked the layout slightly.

This time background landed on top of my card and I also cut off the end of my diagonal panel.

I backed it with a piece of Soft Sky cardstock and adhered it to the card base flat with snail adhesive.

I stamped the sentiment at the bottom Right corner of the card base, in Basic Black Archival ink.

I really had fun creating these cards and I hope you like them too. And can you spot soft, blueish shiny speckles of Dazzling Diamond Stampin’ Glitter on my backgrounds? Just yummy!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today! Make sure you head over to Kylie’s blog to check all lovely projects and vote for your favourites. Hope my project will be among them. My project is under number 7!

Colour With Me – Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop

Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Petal Palette Bedazzled with gold

Hello everyone! Welcome to the monthly Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop. This month’s theme is Colouring. You are currently visiting Anna Krol from the United Kingdom.

Colouring and painting must be my favourite hobby. And it does not really matter what medium I use. For today’s hop, I’ve created two beautiful cards in different colour combinations, using amazing Petal Palette Stamp Set and Watercolour Pencils.

To showcase beautiful roses from Petal Palette Stamp Set, I decided to try a double layer stamping technique.

Dimensions for both cards:

  • card base: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm) – Basic Black & Smoky Slate cardstock
  • Whisper White cardstock panels: 3-3/4″ x 5″ and 2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ (9.5 cm x 12.7 cm and 6.3 cm x 9.5 cm)
  • Basic Black & Smoky Slate panels: 2-3/4″ x 4″ (7 cm x 10.1 cm)
  • Daffodil Delight & Melon Mambo panels: 2-5/8″ x 3-7/8″ (6.7 cm x 9.8 cm)
  • both sentiment strips (Basic Black & Smoky Slate) measure 2″ x 1″ (5 cm x 2.5 cm)  with Melon Mambo & Daffodil Delight strips are just a smidge smaller

For one of my cards, I’ve used a classic colour combination: Basic Black & Melon Mambo with a hint of Old Olive on the leaves.

I’ve layered together two panels of Whisper White cardstock (smaller & larger) securing them together with a dab of snail adhesive in the middle so they won’t move.

I stamped roses from Petal Palette Stamp Set in two corners of my panel making sure they overlap both layers. Because I planned to use Watercolour Pencils, I stamped them using Basic Black Archival ink.

Next, I took apart those layers and decided to colour only the images on a small panel, and leave the rest just black and white.

To colour my roses, I’ve used Watercolour Pencils in Melon Mambo and Old Olive. Blender Pens helped me to blend those colours nicely.

Blender Pens are colourless, but the solution they hold, helps moving colour around, even on regular cardstock.

To add more colour to the image, you can either colour over the image or use Blender Pen to pick up the colour straight for the pencil.

For my second card, I decided to use a rather ethereal colour combination of shades of grey with a pop of yellow.

Same technique but completely different look.

For the roses, I’ve used Daffodil Delight watercolour pencil. I’ve added more colour to the edges of each petal and then using Blender Pen blended the colour towards the centre.

Leaves are coloured with Basic Grey watercolour pencil

And now comes the magic…

I really loved how these cards coming up together, but they seemed too plain to me. So I did a small experiment hoping it will work (and it did!Yay!).

Before assembling my cards, and all the layers together I took those small panels (one at a time of course), flicked water droplets all over them and immediately sprinkled with gold embossing powder.

Did you know that water can hold embossing powder if you act fast enough? Just apply heat from the back.

I heat set it with a heat tool. Once it cools down, I prepped the cardstock with Embossing Buddy, re-applied the heat to those droplets of gold embossing and quickly sprinkled with Gold Stampin’ Glitter. Dabbed off any excess back to the container and heat set it again to set the glitter in place.

I admit it is a VERY MESSY TECHNIQUE!! But it was so worth to have a glitter all over the house haha. Do I have to say it wasn’t last time I used this technique?! Can’t say more now lol

Hope you’ve enjoyed visiting my blog today. I’m wondering which card do you like the most? Classic black & pink or maybe the one in greys and pop of yellow? Please let me know in comments below.

I would love to encourage you to hop along with us and see the rest of beautiful projects designed by amazing artists. Please be sure to continue to hop using the list below. You don’t want to miss any!

Clean & Simple New Home Card For #GDP123

Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Clean & Simple New Home card featuring ‘In The City’ Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!

Hello and welcome! I’m so happy you popped in to visit my stampin’ cave. Today I’ve got for you beautiful, clean & simple cards using ‘In the City’ Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!

My hubby’s younger sister & her husband are in the middle of buying their first house, hence the theme of my cards. There are still few weeks, maybe even a month until the completion date, but we are so, SO happy for them!

Dimensions for both cards:

  • card base: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm) – Whisper White Thick & Crumb Cake cardstock
  • colour cardstock panels: 4-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ (11.4 cm x 8.9 cm) – Smoky Slate, Pool Party, Lemon Lime Twist & Tranquil Tide
  • Whisper White panels: 4-1/2″ x 3″ (11.4 cm x 7.6 cm)
  • scraps of cardstock & vellum for die-cutting and stamping
  • Whisper White Baker’s Twine: 20″ (approx)

For this first card, I decided to use soft colours. Smoky Slate and Pool Party accompanied by Whisper White make such an elegant combination.

First, I adhered all panels to the card base with snail adhesive. To add some interest to the layout, I assembled them at wonky angles.

I stamped two tiny houses from In The City Stamp Set in Versamark ink; taller on a scrap of Pool Party cardstock, and lower one on Whisper White; and heat embossed them in white. This set stamp set doesn’t come with coordinating dies, but images are so easy to fussy-cut I did it in no time.

Sentiments are stamped in Versamark on two separate pieces of cardstock: I stamped ‘congratulations’ from Petal Palette Stamp Set on a strip of Smoky Slate cardstock, and ‘happy for you’ from In The City Stamp Set on a smaller strip of Pool Party and heat embossed both in white.

I die-cut a square of vellum using 2nd largest square die from Stitched Shapes Thinlits Dies. While playing with placement, I thought it would look cool if the square was kinda wonky too (to echo panels) so once happy, I adhered my tiny houses briefly in the middle of that’ wonky’ square. Next, I adhered them to the card and added sentiments using dimensionals.

I know this card supposed to be CAS (clean & simple) but too much white hurts my eyes, honest haha. So before I finished assembling it, I took Smoky Slate ink pad and transferred some ink onto an acrylic block. Next, using aqua painter I flicked few tiny ‘splatters’ of ink into the top Whisper White panel.

For this second card, I decided to use brighter colours. I chose Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist for some fun pop of colour. The base is Crumb Cake.

I wanted to add some extra texture and interest to this card. I really like the Simply Stripes Textured Embossing Folder from Spring Summer catalogue. But because I don’t have it yet I decided to imitate the look. I took my Tranquil Tide panel and with a help of Stampin’ Trimmer, I scored it every 1/4″. I love how it looks.

I also added Lemon Lime Twist splatters to Whisper White panel and adhered all the layers to the card base.

To soften up wonky angles I die-cut a circle from vellum using the 2nd largest circle from Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. I wrapped some Whisper White Baker’s Twine around my fingers to create ‘wreath-like’ shape, and add it in the centre of the vellum circle with a dab of glue (snail adhesive).

I took tiny buildings and simple sentiment strip, put dimensionals to the back and mounted them onto my circle. Dimensionals not just keep all elements together, but they also secure twine from slipping off. I adhered my circle to the card with snail adhesive.

I love how these cards turned out. And to be honest, with a little tweak, they could easily fit any occasion really.
