For Our Mum – Birthday Cards Using Garden In Bloom Stamp Set By Stampin’ Up!

This term seems to be really busy: with our daughter having MOCK exams in a few weeks time = parents meetings at school;  my little sister temporarily moving with us ( only for weekdays; she just started Interior Design MDes course at Coventry University); and me trying to cope with MS as best as I can + infusions in hospital every 4 weeks…there are days I can’t do anything and idea of crafting don’t even cross my mind.

But last week there was our mum’s 63rd birthday. My sister said she really wanted to make a handmade card for our mum but she had no idea where to start. She has never done a card in her life. I took her to my “studio” so she could choose stamp sets & ink pads she liked. And she chose gorgeous Garden In Bloom stamp set + Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Hello Honey and Pear Pizzazz ink pads. Then I thought: oh well, while teaching her how to make a card I could make one for our mum too, right? So I grabbed all essentials: card, adhesives, masks, sponges etc. and we made our way to kitchen (my craft room is really tiny).

Do I have to say we had a blast?! It was so good to craft together…

..and she did very well as for her first time stamping, don’t you think? The sentiment is a mix of two stamp sets: Crazy About You and retired Delightful Dozen.

For my card, I’ve used same design/layout. Just twisted it a bit with a piece of vellum. I also made a matching envelope. Isn’t it pretty? Vellum is attached with stapler

Sentiment on a card comes from Butterfly Basics and is heat embossed in gold.

I’ve also decided to decorate flap of my envelope

Love love love how these two turned out! Chuffed even more because mum loved cards we’ve made. And my sister is now hooked, so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t last time when we were crafting together.

Easy Peasy Bokeh Technique And Tin Of Cards Stamp Set By Stampin’ Up!

Bokeh technique! Have you ever tried it?! I loved this technique “from aside” for a while but never get around to try it myself. Until now 🙂 And why oh! why I waited so long?! hahaha

This is such a cool and easy technique and you can achieve this effect in many different ways. But wait, what the bokeh effect is and means?! In photography bokeh (originally /ˈbkɛ/, /ˈbk/ boh-kay — also sometimes pronounced as /ˈbkə/ boh-kə is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. The term comes from the Japanese word boke (暈け or ボケ), which means “blur” or “haze”, or boke-aji (ボケ味), the “blur quality”. The Japanese term boke is also used in the sense of a mental haze or senility. The term bokashi (暈かし) is related, meaning intentional blurring or gradation.

Cool, hey? 🙂

To achieve a similar effect on your card you can try the watercolour technique background which can be pretty amazing, and for the “blur” you simply add lighter “circles” with white pigment ink. And what’s cool about the pigment ink, you can make your circles as soft or as intense as you wish.

The first card I created is for my hubby’s 41st Birthday which happens to be today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABY!!! I love you to the moon and back! You are such a blessing in my life xx

You must have noticed our ‘cheeky little thing’ photobomb the picture haha

And here’s the card –

Happy Birthday Card - Anna's Stampin' Cave

For the background, I’ve used three colours of ink: Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Island Indigo. I’ve sponged the panel randomly, making sure all the colours are blended well. When I was happy with my background I started adding circles in various sizes with Whisper White Craft Ink and sponge.

Happy Birthday Card - Anna's Stampin' Cave

Sentiment and border come from Tin Of Cards stamp set that coordinates with Tin Of Cards Project Kit. But this set is so versatile with its bold images. Once you’ve created your beautiful kit you can use that stamp set over and over again on different occasions. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and heat-embossed with black embossing powder. Stars are punched with Confetti Stars Punch. To add some WOW effect I added Crystal Effects to the sentiment and stars. I love how they “pop!” from the card.

But because I had all my supplies out, I’ve created three more cards using same technique and stamp set but different colours.

A Happy Hello Card - Anna's Stampin' Cave

For this one, I used Daffodil Delight, Watermelon Wonder and Melon Mambo. For a little twist, I stamped my sentiment onto vellum and added a circle full of punched out stars so the background is peeking from behind. I really love this effect. Larger star comes from Itty Bitty Accents punch pack and it holds vellum in place.

Thank You Card - Anna's Stampin' Cave

My third card is a Thank You card. And again same technique but different sentiment and colours: So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive. And again I used Crystal Effects on stars and sentiment.

For my last card today I used Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum and Rich Razzleberry.

Congrats To You - Anna's Stampin' Cave

But this time I decided to add a vellum “screen” to my layout. Such an easy way to intensify the blur effect.

Hope you like my today’s cards and that I’ve inspired you to try bokeh technique yourself. Honestly, I had lots of fun creating these cards and would love to hear what you think about them. Please let me know in the comments below.

Sprinkles Of Life – New Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set For Ronald McDonalds House Charities

Stampin’ Up!’s mission statement, called its Statement of the Heart, reads: “To love what we do and share what we love, as we help others enjoy creativity and worthwhile accomplishments . . . in this we make a difference.”

To help fulfil this statement, Stampin’ Up! launched Making a Difference program in 2003. This program facilitates corporate giving and promotes service among demonstrators and employees.

Through the Making a Difference program, Stampin’ Up! partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). Each year, we design an exclusive stamp set to promote the partnership with RMHC and donate a portion of the proceeds from each sale of that set. To date, more than $95,000 has been donated from RMHC stamp set sales.

Stampin’ Up!’s demonstrators are also encouraged to volunteer their time teaching local Ronald McDonald House guests the creative art of rubber stamping through the Making a Difference program. Demonstrators also create cards at training events which are donated to Ronald McDonald Houses. Those staying at the Houses then use the cards to keep in touch with loved ones while they are away from home.

And this year is no different…except now there is a matching Tree Builder Punch that coordinate with RMHC stamp set “Sprinkles Of Life”.

Isn’t it awesome! First of all this stamp set consists of a whopping number of 22 stamps! Yep! You hear me. And it’s so versatile. You can create cupcakes, ice-creams, trees, flower pots, piles of leaves, clouds…and many, many more. With just one stamp set. Pretty amazing, right? So let me share my little make. 5

And truly, I won’t tell you how many techniques I’ve used on this single card: watercolouring, heat embossing, clear heat embossing on the stamped image, using glitter, sequins, washi tape… and I had tonnes of fun creating it!

It just looks yummy! Oh, and cherry on top?!

Cherry is made from an apple, water coloured and clear embossed to add a little bit of shine.

Hope you like my little project.

Framelits Art Easter Bunny Card Using Hearts Collection Framelits Dies

I usually don’t post everyday but today I felt well enough to spend some time in my *atelier* 😉 and made this fun and super easy Easter card. You all probably know what punch art is – you take various punches, punch different shapes, and then put them together to create some funny critter. My card today is framelits art. The idea isn’t mine – I’ve found it on sizzix blog. To make this adorable bunny you need various heart sizes. I used Hearts Collection Framelits Dies from Stampin’ Up! And you don’t have to figure out which sizes you need – I did all the work for you 😉

easter bunny

Here’s the list of the hearts/colours you need:

– smallest heart: 2 x whisper white, 1 x crisp cantaloupe, 1 x strawberry slush

– 2nd smallest: 1 x crisp cantaloupe, 1 x strawberry slush

– 3rd smallest: 2 x crisp cantaloupe, 1 x strawberry slush

– 5th heart: 1 x crisp cantaloupe

My card base is A5. I guess it’s possible to downsize it to A6, where the smallest heart would be from itty bitty accents punches. But I like it big 🙂 I assembled my bunny first, before put my card together (except paws and feet). For eyes I punched two medium circles from owl punch. I love his “bright”eyes 😉 I also cut few tiny strips of paper for whiskers.

easter bunny 4

For sentiment I stamped Happy Easter from Crazy About You in Versamark, heat embossed in clear and sponged with Pear Pizzazz. Then trimmed it and backed with slightly bigger piece of Whisper White. I adhered paws so it looks like a banner held by bunny.

easter bunny 2

To assemble my card I layered my card base with So Saffron DSP and two stripes/banners of Pear Pizzazz. I adhered my bunny, his feet and added paws with sentiment. Also added wee flowers in the right bottom corner and card was done.

I love this card and had lots of fun creating it 🙂 Hope you like it too. As always thank you for stopping by,

CAS Thank You Card Using Work Of Art By Stampin’ Up!

I just love my today’s project. It’s clean and simple…and beautiful! There was a time (not that long ago) when I was wondering what the heck CAS card means…haha…and it means exactly that: clean and simple. Some people also use term KISS (keep it simple stamper!). No wonder I haven’t got an idea: I’ve got a tendency to “overthink” and “overload” my cards. But I quite like the idea of clean and simple layout. It’s just don’t come naturally for me.

So today I gave myself a challenge to create a CAS card. I decided to keep the card white with little splash of colour.

The base of the card is standard A6 and top panel is 1/4″ smaller. For my layout I used Work Of Art stamp set. I love this set for it’s simplycity: shapes, swatches, swooshes (or however you call them) that looks like painted with a brush – fab!

art of work 3

I overlapped two “swooshes”: one in Pool Party and other in Pistachio Pudding. I like how these colours complement each other. Now I needed some simple embellishment for my card. Buttons seemed too heavy. I needed something light, something like… a feather!

art of work

I took Four Feathers stamp set and choose smaller one with speckles. I took a piece of vellum, stamped the image in white craft ink and heat embossed it in clear. Then die-cut it with matching framelits and add it to the card with mini glue dots. Both, stamp set and dies, you can buy separately or save 15% and buy them in a bundle.

Sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is stamped in Basic Grey. And that’s it. Card is done!
