Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Kylie Bertucci’s International Project Highlights

Thanks for coming to my blog today! We are being highlighted internationally by Kylie Bertucci and you are able to vote for my project. The top ten winners will get to be part of an international blog hop so please vote for my project. My project is under number  27!  You can do it here or use a button at the end of my post.

A theme for this highlight is ‘Friendship’. So I thought I will use some of the new products to create my card.

To create this card I used the sketch from the Global Design Project:

I slightly re-engineered it though (lol)

And here’s my card:

Anna' Stampin' Cave - friendship rustic card using Stampin' Up! Detailed with Love Stamp Set

Friendship card dimensions:

  • Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm)
  • Very Vanilla regular cardstock for stamping
  • Wood Textures DSP Stack: 2″ x 4-1/8″ (5.08 cm x 10.5 cm)
  • 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon 7″ approx (17.8 cm)

First, I created the base. Next, I cut DSP at a slight angle – the narrower end measures 1-2/8″ (3.2 cm). I adhered it to the base using snail adhesive.

Now the Stamparatus came in handy. I wanted to create a little border where DSP ended. I placed my card in the Stamparatus at an angle so the grid at the Samparatus base and the edge of DSP created ‘one line’.

I placed the border stamp where I wanted it to stamp, and using the plate I lift it up. I inked my stamp with a Pool Party Ink Pad and made my first impression. Now taking advantage of hinges, I moved the plate one spot in the right direction, inked and stamped again. Moved it, inked and stamped it one more time. Perfect alignment each time!

Next, I took the Petal Burst embossing folder and placed it on the bottom part of the card base, so it ended just by my stamped Pool Party border and run it through the Big Shot.

For the sentiment, I chose ‘Life is sweeter with friends like you’ also from Detailed With Love Stamp Set. I thought it would fit well. I stamped it in a Pool Party on a piece of regular Very Vanilla cardstock and next die cut it using the second largest oval die from Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.

I took a piece of burlap ribbon, fold it in half and adhered under the oval. Next, using dimensionals I mounted it on my card.

I truly hope you’ve enjoyed coming to my blog today.

Now, make sure you head over to Kylie’s blog to check all lovely projects and vote for your favourites. Hope my project will be among them. My project is under number 27!

Emboss Resist Watercolour Background With Beautiful Peacock Stamp Set

Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Emboss Resist Watercolour Background With Beautiful Peacock Stamp Set

Hello everyone and thank you for visiting my little stampin’ cave.

Today, I’m playing along with Global Design Project and their #GDP126 Sketch Challenge. And I’ve got for you really simple, yet beautiful card, using FREE Sale-a-bration stamp set: Beautiful Peacock. I don’t know exactly why, but I really love this set, even though it’s completely not in my style.

But except the peacock image, its got all those beautiful, swirly stamps, which supposed to be its tail. And I couldn’t resist using one of these for creating a beautiful, emboss resist watercolour background for my card.

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Emboss Resist Watercolour background using Beautiful Peacock Stamp Set

Dimensions:

  • Lemon Lime Twist cardstock: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm)
  • Tranquil Tide cardstock: 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
  • Shimmery White cardstock: 3-3/4″ x 5″
  • Whisper White cardstock for die cutting
  • Copper Trim: around 2-1/2″

First, I took Shimmery White panel and dust it with embossing buddy. Next, using Versamark, I stamped peacock’s tail all over the panel. sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set it using a heat tool.

I pulled out three inkpads I wanted to use: Lemon Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay and Tranquil Tide. To prepare my colour palettes I squeezed each inkpad in the middle lightly to transfer ink from foam to the lid and opened the inkpads.

I wet the entire Shimmery White panel, using aqua painter, and next, I started adding my colours: Lemon Lime Twist at the top, Bermuda Bay in the middle and Tranquil Tide on the bottom. I let the colours to bleed into each other.

I love to watch how embossed images resist the ink – it’s like magic

Remember, watercolours dry lighter, so once my piece was dry, I added more water and more colour, and repeat the process until I was happy.

The sentiment I chose comes from Petal Palette  Stamp Set. I stamped in on a piece of Whisper White cardstock with Versamark and heat embossed it in copper. Next, I die-cut it using the second smallest square die from Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.

When assembling the card, I decided to turn my panel upside down – it looked so much better with Tranquil Tide on top.

Instead of a ribbon or twine from the sketch, I swap it for a Copper Trim. I cut briefly 2-1/2 piece and I pulled it apart to create this cool mat for my sentiment. I add it to the card with dimensionals.

Clean & Simple New Home Card For #GDP123

Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Clean & Simple New Home card featuring ‘In The City’ Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!

Hello and welcome! I’m so happy you popped in to visit my stampin’ cave. Today I’ve got for you beautiful, clean & simple cards using ‘In the City’ Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!

My hubby’s younger sister & her husband are in the middle of buying their first house, hence the theme of my cards. There are still few weeks, maybe even a month until the completion date, but we are so, SO happy for them!

Dimensions for both cards:

  • card base: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm) – Whisper White Thick & Crumb Cake cardstock
  • colour cardstock panels: 4-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ (11.4 cm x 8.9 cm) – Smoky Slate, Pool Party, Lemon Lime Twist & Tranquil Tide
  • Whisper White panels: 4-1/2″ x 3″ (11.4 cm x 7.6 cm)
  • scraps of cardstock & vellum for die-cutting and stamping
  • Whisper White Baker’s Twine: 20″ (approx)

For this first card, I decided to use soft colours. Smoky Slate and Pool Party accompanied by Whisper White make such an elegant combination.

First, I adhered all panels to the card base with snail adhesive. To add some interest to the layout, I assembled them at wonky angles.

I stamped two tiny houses from In The City Stamp Set in Versamark ink; taller on a scrap of Pool Party cardstock, and lower one on Whisper White; and heat embossed them in white. This set stamp set doesn’t come with coordinating dies, but images are so easy to fussy-cut I did it in no time.

Sentiments are stamped in Versamark on two separate pieces of cardstock: I stamped ‘congratulations’ from Petal Palette Stamp Set on a strip of Smoky Slate cardstock, and ‘happy for you’ from In The City Stamp Set on a smaller strip of Pool Party and heat embossed both in white.

I die-cut a square of vellum using 2nd largest square die from Stitched Shapes Thinlits Dies. While playing with placement, I thought it would look cool if the square was kinda wonky too (to echo panels) so once happy, I adhered my tiny houses briefly in the middle of that’ wonky’ square. Next, I adhered them to the card and added sentiments using dimensionals.

I know this card supposed to be CAS (clean & simple) but too much white hurts my eyes, honest haha. So before I finished assembling it, I took Smoky Slate ink pad and transferred some ink onto an acrylic block. Next, using aqua painter I flicked few tiny ‘splatters’ of ink into the top Whisper White panel.

For this second card, I decided to use brighter colours. I chose Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist for some fun pop of colour. The base is Crumb Cake.

I wanted to add some extra texture and interest to this card. I really like the Simply Stripes Textured Embossing Folder from Spring Summer catalogue. But because I don’t have it yet I decided to imitate the look. I took my Tranquil Tide panel and with a help of Stampin’ Trimmer, I scored it every 1/4″. I love how it looks.

I also added Lemon Lime Twist splatters to Whisper White panel and adhered all the layers to the card base.

To soften up wonky angles I die-cut a circle from vellum using the 2nd largest circle from Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. I wrapped some Whisper White Baker’s Twine around my fingers to create ‘wreath-like’ shape, and add it in the centre of the vellum circle with a dab of glue (snail adhesive).

I took tiny buildings and simple sentiment strip, put dimensionals to the back and mounted them onto my circle. Dimensionals not just keep all elements together, but they also secure twine from slipping off. I adhered my circle to the card with snail adhesive.

I love how these cards turned out. And to be honest, with a little tweak, they could easily fit any occasion really.

Global Design Project #120 Case The Designer Challenge

Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Global Design Project #120 Case The Designer Challenge

Hello and welcome! Finally, I’ve found some time to have a play with this new & fun Bubble Over bundle from Spring Summer Catalogue. And as my inspiration, I have used beautiful card created by amazingly talented Canadian demonstrator, Krista Frattin.

CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit

And here’s my card:

Bubble Over card dimensions:

  • Whisper White Thick cardstock: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm)
  • Sky Blue cardstock: 5-3/8″ x 3-5/8″ (13.7 cm x 9.2 cm)
  • Whisper White cardstock: 5-2/8″ x 3-1/2″ (13.3 cm x 8.8 cm)
  • Whisper White for sentiment: 6/8″ x 3″
  • White Vellum and Soft Sky cardstock for die-cutting
  • Whisper White 1/4″ Organza & Gold 1/8″ Ribbon: approx. 7″ each

First, I sponged the bottom of Whisper White panel with Soft Sky ink. To add some more interest to the background I lightly sprinkled the panel with water using big, dry brush.

I die-cut two bottles from the vellum. First I thought about creating ‘labels’ for my bottles, but I end up stamping straight onto the die-cuts. For this I’ve used two circle stamps from Bubble Over Stamp Set, one with a star and and second with ‘yay’ in the middle. You can’t really see it as it’s hidden under the banner. I also die-cut two straws from Soft Sky cardstock.

I played a bit with the placing of my elements and once I was happy, I assembled the card.

For the final touch I’ve scattered some clear epoxy shapes from the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes, also new from Spring Summer Catalogue. You will get 176 elements in the pack: 1 sheet each (clear and with glitter).

Purchase this amazing Bubble Over Photopolymer Bundle, add Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes and Whisper White 1/4″ Organza Ribbon to your oreder and you will earn for FREE level 1 product from Sale-a-bration Brochure.  Like this cute Designer Series Paper Bubbles & Fizz, that coordinates with Bubble Over Bundle.

Above is just an idea, but you can add any product you wish from the brochure.

Watercolour Wash Using Colorful Seasons Bundle For #GDP088

Phewww! Finally, some air in the air after a heat wave we experienced lately. Don’t get me wrong: I love summertime. I’m just not a fan of hot weather when you can’t do any activity without gasping for the air. And how funny it may sound, in the UK 26C is hardly bearable. But today I woke up very early to the amazingly fresh breeze. I jumped out of bed (well not literally as I still can hardly walk), fixed some quick breakfast to take my medications, got my Bible study done (book of Judges – loveee) and off I go to my ‘cave’ before the ‘house’ woke up.

Since over a week, I’ve been ‘dying’ to crack open the Colorful Seasons Photopolymer Stamp Set and coordinating Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies. And what a better excuse (not that I need one haha) than taking a part in Global Design Project. Especially that this week we are CASE’ing extremely talented, Shawn De Oliveira.

Rose Wonder Stamp Set and Rose Garden Thinlits Dies are one of my favourites from 2016-17 catalogue and I’m really happy that they are staying with us for another year (at least). But for my project today I really wanted to ‘play’ with new products.

What I ‘borrowed from Shawn’s card is the colour combination of soft pink and green with a touch of gold. And because I had all my supplies out I’ve made not one but six cards. Since a couple of months, I belong to amazing facebook group Random Act Of Kindness, where each month we are sending cards to random recipients. ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ (Acts 20:35)

Colorful Seasons card dimensions:

  • Whisper White Thick cardstock card base: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm)
  • Shimmery White cardstock: 3-1/2″ x 4-1/8″ (8.9 cm x 10.5 cm)
  • Old Olive cardstock two stripes: 4-1/8″ x 7/16″(briefly) and 4-1/8″ x 1″ (10.5 cm x 1.2 cm and 10.5 cm x 2.6 cm)
  • white cardboard from the back of DSP: 4-1/16″ x 2-1/2″ (10.4 cm x 6.3 cm)

I started with creating a scalloped edge to my card base. On the front of the card base, I measured 1″ from the bottom, centred the scallop edge die and secured it with a piece of washi tape (so it won’t shift) and run it through the big shot. Next, using the same die I created a scalloped edge on the wider strip of Old Olive cardstock.

For the watercolour wash, instead of watercolour paper, I’ve used Shimmery White cardstock. It’s beautiful on its own but great for light watercolouring too; plus gives your work delicate shimmery look (hence the name).

Watercolour tip: While your ink pad is closed give the lid a gentle squeeze. It will transfer a little pool of ink from the ink pad into the lid.  Open your ink pad. Now you can pick up the ink with your aqua painter or with the tip of your blender pen.

I took aqua painter and I wet the surface of my panel slightly. I didn’t add the water to the entire piece, just to the centre. I picked some Blushing Bride ink with my aqua painter and I’ve done a quick wash of colour over the panel. Dried it with my heat tool.

When the panel was completely dry I rubbed it with embossing buddy to make sure embossing powder won’t stick where it shouldn’t. I stamped the sentiment and maple leaves with Versamark ink, covered them with gold embossing powder and heat set it.

I adhered Old Olive stripes behind the watercoloured panel with liquid adhesive. And now the #facepalm moment: paper + water = warping! …what was I thinking?! To rescue my watercolour pieces: strengthen and straighten them up, I cut rectangles from the white cardboard (I always save backings from DSP) and adhered them behind the panels, between two Old Olive pieces, with a fast fuse.

I assembled my cards with liquid glue. For a final touch, I decided to add few rhinestones. And that’s my cards done.
