Petal Palette Bundle – When In Doubt Just Add Glitter

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Stampin' Up! Petal Palette Stamp Set and Petals & More Thinlits Dies - Bedazzled with Silver

Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Petal Palette Bundle – When In Doubt Add Glitter

Hello everyone. Today I’ve got for you another card from the bedazzled series. You can see previous cards here and here.

I’m not a girly girl, I’m not crazy about pink or bling or glitter and all that jazz, but I came up with this idea accidentally (you can read about it here) and completely fell in love.

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Stampin' Up! Petal Palette Stamp Set and Petals & More Thinlits Dies - Bedazzled with Silver

Card dimensions:

  • Smoky Slate cardstock: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm)
  • Bermuda Bay cardstock: 3-15/16″ x 5-9/16″
  • Shimmery White cardstock: 3-7/8″ x 5-″
  • a piece of White Vellum  and Silver Glimmer Paper for die cutting
  • Smoky Slate banner piece: 2-1/2″ x 11/16″
  • Bermuda Bay banner piece: 2-1/4″ x 1″

First, I created my watercolour background. I stamped roses from Petal Palette Stamp Set in Basic Black Archival ink, which is perfect to work with watercolours. I’ve used Bermuda Bay Ink Pad to colour in all my flowers. For leaves, I’ve used Old Olive with a hint of Lemon Lime Twist Ink Pad. Next, I sponged the whole panel using Smoky Slate Ink Pad and Stamping Sponge.

My favourite technique with a sponged background is to flick water all over it and let ink to react with water to create a distressed look.

I’ve used Embossing Buddy, antistatic pouch, to remove the static or any oil from the panel, flicked some more water on the background, sprinkled with Silver Emboss Powder and heat set it. Added more sprinkles/embossing until happy.

I reheat my embossing on the panel, cover it with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, tap off the excess and heat set it again. Don’t you just love these ‘dazzling’ speckles?!

I adhered my background panel to Bermuda Bay mat and next to Smoky Slate card base. Now to jazz it up a little.

I’ve used Petals & More Thinlits Dies to die cut few elements for my card. I die cut two branches: one from vellum and one from Silver Glimmer Paper. I also die cut a filigree banner from Silver Glimmer Paper.

This square frame was actually a leftover from a different project (lying around) and it was just perfect fit.

I played a bit with a placing of all my elements, and once I was happy I adhered them to the card.

I am really chuffed how this card turned out. Such a shame it’s so hard to photograph and to show all the sparkle in the photo. But below you can see a ‘boomerang’ from my Instagram from when I created the background piece. The shimmer is just mesmerising!!

Petal Palette Split Background 1 For 2

Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Petal Palette Split Background 1 For 2 for Kylie Bertucci’s International Project Highlights

Thanks for coming to my blog today! We are being highlighted internationally by Kylie Bertucci and you are able to VOTE  for my project. The top ten winners will get to be part of an international blog hop so please vote for my project. My project is under number 7!  You can do it here or use a button at the end of my post.

Our theme for this highlight is, again, ‘Favourite Sale-a-bration Or Occasions Catalogue Products’ – because they are so amazing!! Last time I’ve used my ever favourite medium: Brusho Crystal Colour – you can check that post HERE.

This time, however, I decided to use a stamp set I seem to be using a lot lately, called Petal Palette. And this is also my second project in ‘Bedazzled‘ series, as I have a thing (or two lol) for a glitter lately too haha

Dimensions for both cards:

  • card base: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm) – Whisper White Thick & Very Vanilla cardstock
  • Shimmery White cardstock: 4-1/4″ x 5-3/4″ (10.8 cm x 14.6 cm)
  • Soft Sky cardstock: 3-2/8″ x 4-1/8″ (8.26 cm x 10.5 cm)
  • Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper: narrow, long strip – 4-1/2″ x 1/2″ (11.4 cm x 1.3 cm) approx

First I created the background. I didn’t have a plan for my cards yet, I just played – but this is how many of projects start.

I stamped the cluster of roses from Petal Palettes Stamp Set all over the piece of Shimmery White cardstock using Basic Black Archival ink pad. Next, I watercoloured them. I’ve used my ink pads as palettes: Powder Pink with Blushing Bride for roses and Pear Pizzazz with Old Olive for leaves.

When my piece dried, I decided I want to add some colour to the background. I’ve used a sponge dauber to add Versamark ink to my flowers and let it dry. Next, I sponged Soft Sky ink over my piece. Versamark helped my roses not to be stained with blue ink, but it also allowed the blueish hue to make it’s ‘mark’ (hope you know what I mean).

Once happy with the background, I flicked some water droplets on and picked them up with a paper towel. I truly love subtle texture that those droplets create.

Now the ‘bedazzled’ part: I flicked some more water on my background, sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heat set it. Next, I re-heat it once again, added Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter and heat set it again so the glitter stays put. And I cut my piece diagonally to create two cards.

Because of the bold design, I decided to keep the rest of my cards clean & simple.

For first card, I decided to mount my diagonal piece at the very bottom of the card. But first, I stamped the sentiment, with help of Stamp-a-ma-jig, in Basic Black Archival ink.

I stamped it diagonally, just above where the diagonal piece will go and I  added a strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper just below my sentiment. Next, using Foam Adhesive Strips I adhered my background to the card base

For the second card’s card base I’ve used Very Vanilla thick cardstock and I tweaked the layout slightly.

This time background landed on top of my card and I also cut off the end of my diagonal panel.

I backed it with a piece of Soft Sky cardstock and adhered it to the card base flat with snail adhesive.

I stamped the sentiment at the bottom Right corner of the card base, in Basic Black Archival ink.

I really had fun creating these cards and I hope you like them too. And can you spot soft, blueish shiny speckles of Dazzling Diamond Stampin’ Glitter on my backgrounds? Just yummy!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today! Make sure you head over to Kylie’s blog to check all lovely projects and vote for your favourites. Hope my project will be among them. My project is under number 7!

Rustic Best Birds For Global Design Project #084 Challenge

Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Rustic Best Birds For Global Design Project #084 Challenge

Hello and welcome everyone! Today I’m back with my entry for Global Design Project. This week is Case The Designer Challenge over at GDP and we’re casing wonderful Michelle Last. I have to admit I absolutely love Michelle’s style. She’s an incredible artist and amazing person too (I had the privilege to meet her in person a few years back).

It’s a beautiful card to CASE: clean & simple with lots of yummy texture. But I didn’t really want to follow the colour combination or the layout of Michelle’s card (but as you will see I failed miserably as I ‘accidentally’ cased the layout anyway haha ). For my card, I decided to focus on a couple of products she used instead: Best Birds Stamp Set and coordinating Birds & Blooms Thinlits Dies.

Rustic Best Birds card dimensions:

  • Crumb Cake cardstock: 8-1/4″ x 5-7/8″ scored in half at 4-1/8″ (21cm x 14.8 cm scored in half at 10.5 cm)
  • Crumb Cake cardstock: 4-1/8″ x 5-6/8″ (10.2 cm x 14.6 cm)
  • Whisper White cardstock for stamping & die cutting
  • Pool Party cardstock: 3/8″ x 4-3/8″
  • Burlap Ribbon: approx 5-6/8″ (14.6 cm)

I don’t know about you, but when I first saw this stamp set it has called countryside to me. I only bought this bundle a few weeks ago and was really eager to have a play. So this week’s challenge was perfect for inking up my stamp for the first time.

First, I created the background for my ‘idyllic’ scene. I took Crumb Cake panel and stamped it with Hardwood background stamp in Soft Suede. I also sponged the edges of the panel with Soft Suede ink to add to the ‘rustic feel’.

Next, I stamped and die cut all the elements of my scene. The bird is stamped using Crumb Cake ink. Flowers – Pool Party. For little berries/fruits, I’ve used Pear Pizzazz. Branch is stamped in Soft Suede ink and coloured in with markers: Crumb Cake for the branch and Pear Pizzazz for leaves.

I love this sentiment “It’s a good day” from Best Birds Stamp Set. I stamped it in Soft Suede on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cut using an oval die from Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. I think stitched edge suit rustic ‘feel’ of this card just perfectly.

Before I assembled my card I played a little with a placement of all the elements. To add some ‘natural’ texture I decided to use Burlap Ribbon as a banner. I also cut a thin strip of Pool Party cardstock to ‘break’ all the browns. When I was happy with the placement, I took a photo and started the assembly.

Tip: If you have a layout, either a card or a scrapbook page, that consist of lots of small elements, play with the placement first, before glueing things down. Once you’re happy, take a photo of your test layout with your phone ( we all have it on hand, don’t we?). Next, assemble your card/scrapbook page piece by piece by piece with a help of your reference photo. No more guessing ‘where was this or that element supposed to go.

I truly hope you like my little, rustic card. It reminds me of my childhood in Poland and summer holidays we spent in the countryside with our great-grandmother. Wonderful memories.

WOW! this sketch really sat me down for a moment. In a good way of course – great creative exercise for my grey cells. And here’s what I came out with:

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Stampin' Up! Painter's Palette - A Little Expression Of Love Card

A Little Expression of Love card dimensions:

  • Basic Black cardstock: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm)
  • Whisper White cardstock for the inside: 3-2/8″ x 4-2/8″ (8,4cm x 10,7cm)
  • 3 strips of Blooms & Bliss Designer Series Paper: 4-6/8″ x 2″, 4-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ & 4″ x 1″ (12cm x 5cm; 11,4cm x 3,9cm & 10,2cm x 2,5cm )
  • scraps of Whisper White for stamping and die-cutting.

First, I stamped the palette image from Painter’s Palette Stamp Set on Whisper White cardstock in Versamark, and heat embossed it in gold. In the middle, using Stamp-a-ma-jig, I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black. Because I didn’t want all that white space around the sentiment, I took a ‘dotty’ stamp from the same set and stamped it a couple of times in Sahara Sand. I die cut my piece using Layering Squares Framelits Dies.

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Stampin' Up! Painter's Palette - Blooms and Bliss DSP - A Little Expression Of Love Card

Next, I created my circles and I’ve used a really cool and easy technique to do so. I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock, clear stamping block H and three ink pads: Island Indigo, Mint Macaron, and Sahara Sand. First, I inked the clear block with Island Indigo ink and dragged it through the cardstock. I repeat it with other two ink pads, making sure some of the colours overlap, creating fun, distressed design. I die-cut various circles from my piece.

Card assembly. I adhered strips of DSP to the base using snail adhesive, followed by circles. The sentiment is popped up on dimensionals. For the inside, I added Whisper White panel and few leftover circles too.

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Stampin' Up! Painter's Palette and Blooms and Bliss DSP - A Little Expression Of Love Card - card inside

To wrap up my design together I wanted to add some extra golden accents to the card. I’ve used gold Wink of Stella to add some soft random splotches to the DSP and circles (I masked the sentiment for this step). Next, using same ‘dotty’ stamp as for the sentiment, I stamped it randomly on the card base in Versamark and heat embossed it in gold.

I have to tell you, I enjoyed the process of designing this card and watching how it comes together nicely. I hope you like it too.

One Wild Ride For GDP078

Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – One Wild Ride for GDP078

GDP078

Hello, everyone! Today I’m playing along with Global Design Project’s Sketch Challenge. And oh how cool this sketch is – endless possibilities, honestly. It looks so soft and feminine to me yet I decided to go on the ‘dark side’ as there are always shortages in masculine cards.

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Stampin' Up! One Wild Ride - masculine congratulations card for GDP078

One Wild Ride card dimensions:

  • Crumb Cake cardstock: 8-1/4″ x 5-7/8″ scored in half at 4-1/8″ (21cm x 14.8 cm scored in half at 10.5 cm)
  • Basic Black cardstock: 2-1/4″ x 5-7/8 and 3-6/8 x 2-1/8″ (5.7 cm x 14.8 cm and 9.5 cm x 5.4 cm)
  • Whisper White cardstock: 2″ x 3-5/8″ and 1-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ (5 cm x 9.2 cm and 3.8 cm x 6.3 cm) + a strip for a sentiment

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Stampin' Up! One Wild Ride - masculine congratulations card for GDP sketch challenge

I started with stamping card front with this gravel-splatter kinda stamp from One Wild Ride stamp set, in Crumb Cake for soft, tone on tone effect. Next, I embossed it with Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

I took 2-1/4″ x 5-7/8 piece of Basic Black cardstock and distressed it by tearing the edge of the panel. Using the same ‘gravel’ stamp I stamped the whole panel in Versamark, heat embossed it in silver and adhered it to the card base.

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Stampin' Up! One Wild Ride - masculine congratulations card for GDP

Next, I stamped motorcycle in Basic Black on a piece of Whisper White cardstock. It looked too ‘clean’ so once again I’ve used the gravel stamp. This time I stamped it in Basic Grey. I also distressed the edges of the panel using scissors.

I matted my Harley image with Basic Black cardstock and a smaller piece of Whisper White and adhered it flat to the base.

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Stampin' Up! One Wild Ride - masculine congratulations card for GDP#078

I kept sentiment simple, just Basic Black ‘congratulations’ on a strip of Whisper White popped out with dimensionals.

I hope you like my card and that maybe, just maybe, it inspired you and gave you some ideas for a surprisingly tough subject called ‘masculine cards’.
