Anna’ Stampin’ Cave – Amazing You Clean & Simple Card Using SAB Freebies

Are you pink or blue person? Why my question you may be wondering?

Couple of days ago I shared with you lovely, CAS card using Amazing You Stamp Set and Celebrate You Thinlits Dies with flower in pink – you can check it here.

Today, however, I have a very similar card using the same products and layout, but in blue instead of pink.

Here’s my card –

Anna' Stampin' Cave - Amazing You Card using Stampin' Up! Amazing You Stamp Set & Celebrate You Thinlits Dies - Bermuda Bay - Pool Party - Gold

Amazing You card dimensions:

  • Bermuda Bay cardstock: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm)
  • Whisper White cardstock: 3-5/8″ x 5-3/8″ (9.3 cm x 13.6 cm)
  • Whisper White cardstock (for inside): 3″ x 4-5/8″ (7.6 cm x 11.7 cm)
  • a piece of watercolour paper for stamping the flower
  • a strip of Gold Foil cardstock for die cutting
  • Gold 1/8″ Ribbon: 8″ approximately

In today’s card I still encorporated gold elements, but I swapped Berry Burst and Powder Pink inks for Bermuda Bay and Pool Party. I love this dreamy teal-y flower!

I love the script on this ‘amazing’ die cut. It’s bit tricky to adhere but totally worth the hustle. ‘You’ is stamped in soft, Pool Party ink. For the greenery this time I used only one shade of green: Pear Pizzazz.

To finish off the inside of the card I stamped the flower in Pool Party ink, in bottom right corner.

So? Are you pink or blue person? I would love to know.

Watercolour Wash Using Colorful Seasons Bundle For #GDP088

Phewww! Finally, some air in the air after a heat wave we experienced lately. Don’t get me wrong: I love summertime. I’m just not a fan of hot weather when you can’t do any activity without gasping for the air. And how funny it may sound, in the UK 26C is hardly bearable. But today I woke up very early to the amazingly fresh breeze. I jumped out of bed (well not literally as I still can hardly walk), fixed some quick breakfast to take my medications, got my Bible study done (book of Judges – loveee) and off I go to my ‘cave’ before the ‘house’ woke up.

Since over a week, I’ve been ‘dying’ to crack open the Colorful Seasons Photopolymer Stamp Set and coordinating Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies. And what a better excuse (not that I need one haha) than taking a part in Global Design Project. Especially that this week we are CASE’ing extremely talented, Shawn De Oliveira.

Rose Wonder Stamp Set and Rose Garden Thinlits Dies are one of my favourites from 2016-17 catalogue and I’m really happy that they are staying with us for another year (at least). But for my project today I really wanted to ‘play’ with new products.

What I ‘borrowed from Shawn’s card is the colour combination of soft pink and green with a touch of gold. And because I had all my supplies out I’ve made not one but six cards. Since a couple of months, I belong to amazing facebook group Random Act Of Kindness, where each month we are sending cards to random recipients. ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ (Acts 20:35)

Colorful Seasons card dimensions:

  • Whisper White Thick cardstock card base: 11-6/8″ x 4-1/8″ scored in half at 5-7/8″ (29.7 x 10.5 cm scored in half at 14.8 cm)
  • Shimmery White cardstock: 3-1/2″ x 4-1/8″ (8.9 cm x 10.5 cm)
  • Old Olive cardstock two stripes: 4-1/8″ x 7/16″(briefly) and 4-1/8″ x 1″ (10.5 cm x 1.2 cm and 10.5 cm x 2.6 cm)
  • white cardboard from the back of DSP: 4-1/16″ x 2-1/2″ (10.4 cm x 6.3 cm)

I started with creating a scalloped edge to my card base. On the front of the card base, I measured 1″ from the bottom, centred the scallop edge die and secured it with a piece of washi tape (so it won’t shift) and run it through the big shot. Next, using the same die I created a scalloped edge on the wider strip of Old Olive cardstock.

For the watercolour wash, instead of watercolour paper, I’ve used Shimmery White cardstock. It’s beautiful on its own but great for light watercolouring too; plus gives your work delicate shimmery look (hence the name).

Watercolour tip: While your ink pad is closed give the lid a gentle squeeze. It will transfer a little pool of ink from the ink pad into the lid.  Open your ink pad. Now you can pick up the ink with your aqua painter or with the tip of your blender pen.

I took aqua painter and I wet the surface of my panel slightly. I didn’t add the water to the entire piece, just to the centre. I picked some Blushing Bride ink with my aqua painter and I’ve done a quick wash of colour over the panel. Dried it with my heat tool.

When the panel was completely dry I rubbed it with embossing buddy to make sure embossing powder won’t stick where it shouldn’t. I stamped the sentiment and maple leaves with Versamark ink, covered them with gold embossing powder and heat set it.

I adhered Old Olive stripes behind the watercoloured panel with liquid adhesive. And now the #facepalm moment: paper + water = warping! …what was I thinking?! To rescue my watercolour pieces: strengthen and straighten them up, I cut rectangles from the white cardboard (I always save backings from DSP) and adhered them behind the panels, between two Old Olive pieces, with a fast fuse.

I assembled my cards with liquid glue. For a final touch, I decided to add few rhinestones. And that’s my cards done.

…And The Greatest Of These Is Love – Embossed Impression Technique

Hello and welcome!

Today, I’ve got for you card using beautiful Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies. I’ve made various cards using this die in the past, but this time I wanted to try something new: an Embossed Impression Technique. This is very easy, yet effective technique. And great way to stretch your dies too.

stampin-up-embossing-stamping-with-bloomin-heart-thinlits-dies

I’ve used Stampin’ Up! White Shimmery cardstock for this technique, as I planned to do a bit of water colouring later on. I prepared my Big Shot sandwich: Big Shot on Tab 1 -> Cutting Plate -> Silicon {embossing) mat -> cardstock (I swiped the cardstock with embossing buddy). Next, I tapped Versamark over the cutting edge of the die very gently, and placed the die, cutting edge down, on my cardstock. Remember, once it’s on the paper don’t move it or you will mess up your image. I then carefully placed the second cutting plate over the top and run it through the big shot.

Because I put Versamark Ink on the die, now I had that ink in all the ‘valleys’ of the impression I just made. So I sprinkled Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder over it and heat embossed it.

stampin-up-embossing-stamping-with-bloomin-heart-thinlits-dies

I love those tiny gold lines! Next, I made few watercolour washes over my piece, using Mint Macaron ink pad and Pool Party reinker. Once dry, I cut my panel to 3-7/8″x 4-3/8″.

I also die cut five flowers, two large and three small, from Whisper White cardstock (I probably should have used Shimmery White cardstock for them too), and adhered them to my piece with glue dots. I’ve added some soft Mint Macaron watercolour wash to the flowers to add some depth to them

stampin-up-embossing-stamping-with-bloomin-heart-thinlits-dies

My card base is Very Vanilla. I stamped ‘Love’ in Mint Macaron using Brushwork Alphabet stamp set. I adhered my embossed panel with liquid glue to a piece of Mint Macaron mat (4″x 4-1/2″), and add them both to the card base with dimensionals.

To finish off my card I’ve added some shimmer to the flowers with Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and put a rhinestone in each flower centre.

I hope you like my card, and that you give this technique a try.

If you have arrived here from Mandy’s blog thank you for stopping by. If you just start here please keep “hopping” to see the inspiration from our little group. I’m sure you will enjoy what everyone prepared for you this time.

I was really excited about this week’s sketch designed by Amy from blog Engineering Home. Not that it’s an easy one. Oh, and it was her BIRTHDAY yesterday!!! Happy Birthday, Amy! ??????

SKETCH 2

This time I decided to go with Christmas theme. And yes I know there’s still a time for Christmas cards, but hey, you’ve got to start somewhere 🙂 So here’s my interpretation of this week’s brilliant sketch:

Peaceful Pines

I know that many cardmakers prefer ever-so-popular clean and simple style, but I’m a big fan of distressing. And in my card today I tried to incorporate both styles.

peaceful pines 3

The base of my card is Whisper White card stock. A slightly smaller panel of Mint Macaron measures 5″ x 3-3/8″. I knew this panel will be mostly covered but I wanted to add some interest to it. First I thought about dry embossing but it would be too busy for an idea I had in my head. Instead, I stamped some splotches with Gorgeous Grunge in Mint Macaron for a subtle tone-on-tone look.

A distressed panel is a piece of white woodgrain patterned paper from Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP. This paper is amazing, as each sheet is clear embossed, ready for inking, sponging, spritzing – getting messy in short 🙂

peaceful pines 4.2

peaceful pines 4.1

I squeezed Tip Top Taupe ink pad on the sleek surface (you can use acetate or craft sheet), spritz it with water and swooshed my paper into this puddle of colour. I added ink and water until achieved the look I wanted. I love how embossing resists the colour. When the paper was dry I stamped few splotches from Gorgeous Grunge and distressed and sponged the edges. Just a warning, this technique will warp your paper so you have to be careful, or use watercolour paper.

Peaceful Pines 3

To create my tag I cut a piece of Whisper White card that measures 2″ x 4″ and punch it with Ornate Tag Topper punch. Then I dabbed the edges in Versamark and heat emboss it with gold embossing powder.

I stamped Christmas tree from Peaceful Pines stamp set in Versamark on a piece of Tip Top Taupe card stock. I heat embossed it with Heat & Stick powder and when it got sticky I sprinkled gold glitter over it (I must say that I’m in love with Gold Stampin’ Glitter). Then I die cut it using coordinating framelits. I also die cut half of the tree from Whisper White and Mint Macaron to layer them together. When the tree was ready I assemble my tag and finish it with a piece of ribbon and bakers twine. Finally, I could assemble my card. Now just sentiment left.

Peaceful Pines 2

The sentiment comes from Flurry of Wishes stamp set. I embossed it in gold on a strip of vellum and attached to my card with edges of dimensionals (folded in half). To finish it off I coloured two White Perfect Accents using gold Sharpie and added them where the adhesive was. Taa-daah!

Lotus Blossom Gorgeous Grunge And Gold Fancy Foil Vellum All About Kindness + Bonus Free Gift

Lotus Blossom is so far the most popular Sale-A-Bration product. And I’m not surprised at all. This gorgeous three step stamping stamp set is very versatile, and flowers look like hand-painted. It comes with two sentiments: simple “thank you” and absolutely beautiful “The kindness you show has no end…”. And this sentiment I’ve used in today’s card.

I wanted to keep this card sweet and gentle so decided to use Crisp Cantaloupe for card base and Pistachio Pudding for banner. I’ve layered the base (standard A6) with piece of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. Pistachio Pudding banner measure 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″, and is dry embossed with Chevron Embossing folder to add some texture to the card.

sweet 1

I took a piece of Whisper White and cut it into banner that measures 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and distressed the edges. Then stamped Lotus Blossom in Crisp Cantaloupe. Added little stem in Pistachio Pudding. But it was missing something, so decided to stamp some splotches from Gorgeous Grunge. Sentiment is stamped in versamark and heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder – LUSH, and it fits the vellum.

Before I put the card together I decided to add Crisp Cantaloupe Thick Bakers Twine (in Weekly Deals offer this week) to my white banner. To avoid visible traces of glue under vellum I used glue dots – perfect, as they are hiding under gold dots. For the rest of the card I’ve used snail adhesive. Less then 10 minutes and card is done 🙂

sweet 2

I love this card. It looks exactly the way I wanted 🙂 Soft colours, and a WOW factor with gold embossing and vellum. And all done in 10 minutes – it’s a win win 🙂

Thank you for stopping by,
